Simple Present Tense


The term "tense" is derived from the Latin translation of the Greek word for "time" (Lyons, 1968: 304). The etymological meaning is not much different from the definitions presented in many dictionaries and grammar references. Generally, most lexicographers and grammarians today define tense as the verb-form denoting time (of. Hornby and Parnwell, 1979; Urdong, 1968; Guntram 1985; swan, 1980; Hodges et al.,1990). Tense means the time of doing a verb. The completion time of verb is normally referred to as tense.In another words, tense is a form of verb that shows the time in which an action happened. Types of Tense:

Tense is basically divided into three types. They are present, past and future. Each type has four forms.

1.Present Tense: Present tense refers to an action that completes in the present.

2.Past Tense: Past tense refers to an action that completed in the past.

3.Future Tense: Future tense refers to an action that will be done in future.
.Classification of Present Tense.

Present tense refers to an action that completes in the present. Present tense is of four types.

1. Present Indefinite Tense: Present indefinite tense refers to an action that occurs in the present times. Sometimes, it refers habitual truth or perpetual truth.
Structure: Subject+verb(s/es) or Subject+verb(s/es)+object/complement. Example:
I read a book
I am a boy.
The sun rises in the east.

2. Present Continuous Tense: Present continuous tense refers to an action that is running or going to be continued in the near future. Structure: Subject+am/is/are+verb(ing) or, Subject+am/is/are+verb(ing)+object/complement. Example:
We are swimming in the pond.
I am writing a poem.
My brother is going to Dhaka tomorrow. (near future)

3. Present Perfect Tense: Present perfect tense refers to an action that has already been done but its effect yet lasts. Structure: Subject+have/has+PPV(Past Participle of Verb)+object/complement. Example: I have made my homework.
They have just done their duties.

4. Present Perfect Continuous Tense: Present perfect continuous tense refers to an action which began in the past and is still running. Structure: Subject+have been/has been+verb(ing). Example:
I have been reading since morning.
She has been suffering from fever for last 7 days.

Note: Since is used for definite time.

The Youngest Chef By Sandy Wahyu Wijaya


    Once upon time, there was a rich family who lived in the middle of Fusha city.  The family consisted of a couple of husband and wife and two children. They were very popular family. Mr. Wijaya was the name of the head of household and his wife named Merlin. Mr. Wijaya worked in his own television company and his wife was the owner boutique. Mr. Wijaya and his wife never tired or angry with their jobs. Although they were too busy, they always take care of their children.

    Mr. Wijaya’s children were smart. They had very interesting hobbies. Kaneki was 13 years old, a boy who had hobby of playing music and cooking. Kaneki had a dream become a famous chef. While Lala, her older sister had hobby of drawing and making clothes. She had a dream to be a famous designer.

    At the end of the year, Mr. Wijaya and Mrs. Merlin would go to Tokyo to hold a business agreement. Before leaving, they visited their grandma's house. The grandma’s house which was located at the Fusha surburs. Kaneki and Lala were very glad to saw the garden of tea.

    “Wow, the air around here is fresh once, Mom! Someday I will build a house around here". exclaimed Lala to her mother.
    “Yeah, when you've become a great designer, you should be able to build your dream’s house". Said her mother.
    
    While they arrived at grandmother’s house. Mr. Wijaya and his wife would go to Tokyo and entrusted their children to their grandmother. During both of their parents went to Tokyo. Kaneki and Lala lived with their grandmother named grandma Kaede. Grandma Kaede was Mr. Wijaya’s mother. She was a tea farmer. Every day, grandma Kaede goes to her tea garden which is located not far from his house. Grandma Kaede was very happy because her granddaughters help her.

    Three days passed, Mr. Wijaya and his wife completed an agreement of business and soon returned home. While on the way the accident happened, the aircraft had crashed. Due to the incident, no one survived. News of sorrow had been up to their children and made them very sad.

    Mr. Wijaya and his wife had not been found. Two weeks after the incident, Kaneki and Lala returned to their home. Two months later, arrived of two business man who associates with their parents. Business agreements had been done not just by one or two branches of the company but rather by various branches of the company. Boldly, Kaneki and Lala tried to continue her parent’s business, even though they did not know at all how the operations of the business at that time. In the end, they failed and went bankrupt. They lost everything. Eventually, they went back to their grandmother's house.

    Kaneki, whose hobby was cooking, he kept practicing to become chef. While the Lala tried to make fashion models as she wanted. Kaneki and Lala had a flower garden created by themselves. From the flower garden, they sold the flowers. They were very keen to work.

   In April, there was a cooking competition in Fusha city. Kaneki immediately signed up and he entered the final round. The final round would be held on the next day. Kaneki could not sleep awaits final round of that day. He continued to practice cooking, tried new things which he had not mastered yet.

    The day of the final round had arrived.
    “Kaneki, you will win this cooking competition, grandma knows that". Whispered grandma Kaede.
    “Kaneki, I beg you will be the winner. Father and mother will be proud to see you can realize your dream". Lala shouted from a distance.

    On the final day, no one supported Kaneki except his grandmother and sister because he was too young for won the cooking competition. Finally, Kaneki won the cooking competition and decelerated as the youngest chef in his city. Now, he worked at the most famous restaurant in Fusha city.
